The Getty Villa and Getty Center are museums features pre-20th-century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, and decorative arts; and 19th- and 20th-century American, Asian, and European photographs. Both the Villa and the Center have very beautiful gardens around the buildings. More than 500 varieties of plant material are used for the Central Garden at the Getty Center, but the selection is "always changing, never twice the same". Gardens at the Getty Villa are integral to the setting of the Getty Villa, as they were in the ancient Roman home. Open spaces around the site feature bronze sculptures, fountains, and lush plantings of trees, herbs, and flowers used by the Romans.
